FAQ’s

When’s the earliest that my child can start to play tennis?
Ideally junior infants or at five years old children are ready to join and enjoy the Tennis4kids® programme as we focus on tennis for kids aged 5 to 12.

What if my child isn’t sporty, can they still play tennis?
The beauty of Tennis4kids® is that it’s all-inclusive. Our coaches get to spend a lot of time with each child, and because tennis is an individual sport, no child gets pushed to the background as can happen with team sports. Regardless of ability, we stress the importance of fun.

Does my child need to bring a tennnis racket?
No need. We provide kids tennis rackets and equipment at all our classes.

What tennis gear should be worn?
Runners and tracksuits are good, as long as they’re comfortable. That’s why we don’t recommend jeans.

How many kids take part in after school tennis classes?

We keep our tennis classes small to ensure individual attention, enjoyment and success. The optimum number for learning and fun is eight per group.

Are tennis classes suitable for children with special needs?
Yes they are. Tennis4kids® already coaches tennis for kids who have special needs. We focus on and work within the child’s abilities, so an inclusive approach gives opportunities to almost every child.

Where do after school tennis classes take place?
We currently run after school tennis classes for kids in Dublin and Meath. Two new venues are set to start in East Cork in 2012 providing tennis classes for children in Carrigtohill and Middleton. More new venues are being planned.

What qualifications do your tennis coaches have?
All our tennis coaches are qualified professionals registered by Tennis Ireland and under the continuing tutelage of Tennis4kids® founder and former Ireland player Annette Smith. They’re also vetted for suitability by the Garda.

What if the weather’s bad?

After school mini tennis classes are held indoors and are not weather dependant.
Junior after school classes are held outdoors and have the back –up of playing tennis indoors if weather is bad, which is a great benefit.

Cancellations/refunds

Our enrolment policy is to give priority to current pupils and then new pupils are allocated places on a first come first served basis. All cancellations will carry a €20 cancellation charge if cancelled less than a week before a programme is due to commence.
