Primary School Testimonials
What Primary Schools have to say about the Tennis4kids Programme.
The programme was extremely well structured and the tutors worked wonderfully well with the children. High expectations were set for the children and the pace of the class matched the ability of the class. Each week the child making the most effort was rewarded with a little plaque. Every child was a winner! Some low achieving children got the opportunity to show real sporting ability during the lessons. Children made remarkable progress during the two terms each year. Many of our children have continued to play at home. I am delighted to announce that we are entering our third year with the programme. Our own teachers are also learning how to teach the programme. I wholeheartedly recommend this programme for any school. The professionalism with which it is carried out is second to none.” – Convent School Gardiner Street, Eileen O’ Doherty, Principal
“A fabulous introduction to sport for young children. Encourages young children to take up sport.” – Grainne Duffy Schools Completion Programme Co-ordinator
“St Mary’s BNS Booterstown has enjoyed a very positive ten year tennis coaching association with Tennis4kids. During this time we have found their service to the school to be highly professional, punctual, well-structured and child centered .Children look forward to their sessions, which are provided during the course of the school day as part of a modular P.E. programme.” – St Mary’s BNS Booterstown, Robert O’Connor, Principal
“Thank you for delivering a wonderful experience of tennis to the children of Bellewstown School. Every child enjoyed the time they spent at Tennis Starter- even the ‘experts’ A brilliant example of outdoor classroom. Well done and we look forward to seeing you in September.” With thanks – Bernadette and staff Bellewstown National School
“The Tennis4Kids lessons are all very well planned, highly interactive and differentiated to ensure that all children can access the programme regardless of their ability. We are an Active School but tennis was not a sport previously experienced by our pupils. Since we started the lessons numerous children have taken up the sport outside of school time which is a measure of its popularity! I would highly recommend Tennis4kids to all schools.” – St Raphael’s SGS Sile O Carroll Principal
“I have found Annette and her team to be of the highest professional standard. Children who are challenged academically are given a chance to shine at something they enjoy. Annette stresses the team element of sport and allows the children to experience success at their own level. Annette and her team have great empathy with children and always inspire them to develop their full potential in terms of sport.” – St Vincent’s Girls’ School, Rita Tighe, Principal
“We, in Scoil Chiaráin C.B.S., have had the pleasure of working with Tennis4kids for the last three years. We play on an out-door tar macadam surface. As each class is taken in small groups we find that pupils develop hand-eye co-ordination and balance very well. We have a unit for children with Autism in the school and we find the tennis lessons excellent for integration purposes for many of the children in the unit. The children really look forward to every class. Not all children are “into” team sports and we feel Tennis4kids® caters well for all of these.” – Scoil Chiaráin C.B.S, Martin Troy Principal
What stood out for me, in particular, was the structured and well thought out approach to isolating and developing the individual motor skills associated with the basics of the game. This was done in a fun yet energetic series of drills and games. Little or nothing was left to chance in ensuring that each child had an understanding and appreciation of the basic skills of the game. For anyone contemplating the introduction of tennis at Primary School level, I would look no further than Tennis4kids®.” – St Patricks GNS Martin Lynch, Principal
“The girls have had great enjoyment and love the team games. There has been a significant improvement in hand/eye co-ordination and a promotion of healthy activities and lifestyle.” – Our Lady of Mercy Convent School, Booterstown, Mairin Benson, Principal.
“Our classes have been participating in the Tennis4Kids programme for the past five years. The boys have really enjoyed the tennis and their skills are improving as is their confidence. It is the first time that we have tennis in the school, although we would have a few boys who take part in the Parks Tennis during the summer. The staff felt that it was a sport that all might enjoy and is different to the normal sports played by our boys, ie GAA and basketball. This is indeed proving true.” – St. Mary’s BNS Maeve Brew Principal
